HDMI Repair After Failed Repair – PS5 & Xbox Board Level Recovery

Many PS5 and Xbox consoles come to us after a previous HDMI repair attempt at another repair shop.
In some cases, instead of only replacing the HDMI port, the repair process damages the motherboard pads and signal traces.

When this happens, replacing the HDMI port again will not fix the console.

What actually goes wrong

The HDMI port connects directly to high-speed video signal lines from the HDMI encoder IC.
If the copper pads or traces are torn off:
• No display
• Flickering signal
• Intermittent video
• Console powers on but shows black screen

This becomes a microsoldering motherboard repair, not a normal HDMI replacement.

Our repair process

At Mobile Fone Medics we perform full board-level diagnostics:

• Trace inspection under microscope
• Reconstruction of damaged copper traces
• Pad rebuilding
• Precision micro-jumper wiring
• Signal integrity testing
• Full stress test on HDMI output

After rebuilding the signal path, the console video output is restored and tested for stability.

Why this repair requires experience

Modern consoles use extremely fine high-speed differential lines.
Improper heat, wrong tools or incorrect removal technique can permanently damage the board.

This type of repair requires:
• Microsoldering skill
• Schematic understanding
• Experience with PS5 & Xbox HDMI circuitry

We regularly recover consoles that other repair shops marked as “unrepairable”.

If your PS5 or Xbox still has no display after HDMI repair — the motherboard may still be recoverable.
